Christian Treatment --- Faith Based Addiction Treatment

One of the innermost relationships that we share is the one with our own selves. Religion is an organized aspect of worship and our faith. Many of us understand belief in the Supreme Power through the way we perceive our parents. Our transferences and beliefs are an integral part of Christian treatment. If you have alcohol rehab in mind, it is best to seek the holistic treatment as it addresses the affected person’s helplessness over alcohol. The aim of Christian rehabilitation is also to ensure that there is a Higher Being that can restore the addicts’ faith to sanity and composure.

In fact, in addictive treatment, the aim of the process is to gear our lives to the care of the Supreme Spirit and understand His power and interpret it accordingly. It has also been observed that one of the primary elements in Christian treatment is our interpretation of God, based on which the recovery is dependant. This is when patients are encouraged to seek a higher meaning to gain better understanding. If alcoholism is a spiritual problem, it is envisaged that the solution should also be spiritual in nature. This is why the Christian rehab procedure focuses on helping the patient to find and rely on something which is better than drugs or alcohol.

One of the basic parameters of faith-based treatment is that it concentrates on and encourages goodness. Counselors and doctors have agreed to the fact that the patient gradually realizes the presence of God and this is something that gives them a better feeling than the situation they were in previously i.e. addiction. The feeling overall is a much satisfying one, so much so that the patient can chase it anywhere. Faith healing encompasses the fact that the presence of God is better than any other kind of presence. Stress can hence be dealt with by shifting focus on something for dealing with stress. People need to find things that keep them occupied and at the same time are better and greater than alcoholism and addiction.

While many people avidly believe in religious powers, there are yet others who may not trust the efficacy of spiritual treatment and healing. With the reviving interest of science in religion, people are growing to rely on Christian faith healing more and more. In fact, science and spirituality are getting inter related due to the fact that patients who take to spirituality live longer and lead a hale and hearty life. This has been a rising trend since the decade of the 1990s. Here are the basic principles of dealing with Christian treatment:

  • Maintaining respect for the belief system of the patient
  • Securing information about their spiritual and religious beliefs
  • Develop a growing sense of empathy for the belief system of the patient
  • It is best not to impose your personal beliefs on anyone else
  • You need to educate the person concerned about the benefits of surrendering to a Higher Power
  • The benefits of spirituality include humility, inner strength and sense of purpose
