Why Go to A Christian Rehab?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Once you start taking drugs, in a short period of time, you will get addicted to it. That is one of the most frightening aspects of drug addiction. Before you realize it, you are an addict.

Rehabilitation centers, both traditional ones and Christian rehab centers, explain this dangerous fact in all their campaigns.

Gradually, drug addicts are removed from their social and personal lives. They isolate themselves and due to their behavioral changes, their loved ones stay away from them. They are mostly wary of the reactions of the addict. They are afraid to cause anger or irritation, which may lead the addicts to consume more drugs.

There has to be a timely intervention to get an addict away from the black hole s/he is moving into. After a certain stage, the patient cannot come out of any addiction alone. He/she will require external help and that stage comes very early in any addiction. So, almost all addicts need rehabilitation.

The isolation and indifference, which the addicts feel under the influence of drugs, return to haunt them even if they are treated. Often, people who go to rehab and come back into the world seem lost and confused. They are not able to interact with others the way they used to and they feel a lack of direction.

Trying to address this problem, several Christian rehabs have been established in the country. Unlike the traditional centers, these faith-based centers have succeeded in minimizing the number of relapses. The programs at these centers take a comprehensive path, leaving no stone unturned during the treatment so that the person is better equipped to face the world, whatever are the conditions.

The ordinary rehabs treat the patients as cases and focus on deciding a course of medication, get the patients to follow it and if recovered, allow them to move out. Physically, they may be de-addicted but the mental scars remain. These facilities do not provide effective post-treatment guidance. When the prescribed treatment is over, the work is only half-done. The other half is completed only when the patient restarts his life and takes it forward in a direction that cannot make him an addict again.

Considering these problems that the traditional centers have, many people are opting for the Christian facilities.

These centers have a different method of arriving at the desired result. They have a step by step process where it is taken from one level to the other only after the successful completion of the former.

The various procedures followed in a faith-based center include individual and group counseling, medication, prayer and pastoral guidance, creative activities such as gardening, pottery and painting and physical activities such as running, jogging, swimming and playing.

The most important factor in many of these steps is communication. Addiction makes people refrain from talking. There is no creative expression of ideas. They keep their feelings and thoughts hidden and find it irritating to talk to anybody. All these activities help in releasing the thoughts and energy. Counseling helps in sharing ideas. It makes them aware of others and their experience will also arouse empathy in the patient. He will learn that he is not the only one facing such problems and there may be many more out on the streets. Somewhere in these procedures, self-discovery happens and it becomes easy for patients to recover once they realize what is wrong.

Along with the awareness of addiction, the effects of it are also explained. A study of how the addiction affects their bodies makes it easy for them to keep away from it. The love for life, and a healthy life at that, is reinstated in them.

Jesus Christ is the foundation for the Christian rehabs. The Christian rehabs extract strength and knowledge from His life and teachings and make the addicts understand that there is nothing more valuable than love and kindness. Though the Bible speaks of punishment for those who do wrong, it also speaks of redemption for those who mend their ways. This is another aspect that is shared with the patients.

If the teachings are good and the method seems profound, but if the surroundings do not complement it, the treatment can never be complete. Care is taken to ensure that the faith-based rehabs do not look like hospitals. There is a homely touch to everything and the comfort of the patient is of utmost concern. All basic amenities are available and the rooms are also designed to be very comfortable.

In some rehabs, there are also interactions between recovering and recovered addicts. These sessions are an eye-opener for the recovering addicts who get to see how delightful it is to get over the addiction and also get to know how the world will appear after they go out.

These low-cost Christian rehabs have changed the way people look at drug treatment and they have urged more people to join and beat their demons.

Choosing the Right Christian Drug Rehab Center

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

There are so many drug rehab center advertisements available online, on television, phone directory and newspapers that it may become confusing to know which one is really the best. Needless to say, one should always go for a drug rehab center that is well-known, registered and accredited. Find out from patients who have been treated in these centers to know if they have really been treated, and not gone back into relapse mode.

Faith based drug addiction treatments have always been popular. Not only are they reasonably priced, but the therapy is really effective. For instance, Christian drug rehab is known for its holistic and spiritual approach towards drug addiction. It has hardly any patients going into relapse mode, due to its comprehensive therapy, which conditions the patient’s mind against substance abuse.

Holistic treatments make you less dependent on medication and are focused on helping a person heal naturally. Spiritual treatments help a person develop a strong resolve to not touch drugs again. The person begins to experience a mental detoxification where he or she comes to know about how life can be very beautiful without drugs or any other form of addiction.

Faith based treatments including regular Bible reading, prayers, inspirational teachings and actions, activities that make a person work to the best of his or her ability as an individual and as a team. Regular counseling is done and the family and friends are also given advice and support on how to deal with a recovering addict.

Most people take to drugs due to an underlying problem like depression, soured relationship, financial problems etc. Spiritual oriented drug rehabs address this root cause of the problem and suggest measures to avoid this tension and live a joyous life. Thus, the withdrawal symptoms and relapse for drugs is less, because the individual become strong from within. The chances of relapse are simply not there, because the person is able to fight his inner demons without resorting to drugs or such other form of addiction.

Among things that are taught in faith based drug rehabs, there are behavioral theory, individual therapy, group therapy, motivational speeches, nutritional advice, somatic experiencing, social responsibility, communicational skills, games, addiction controlling therapies, workshops, spiritual exercises etc. The length of the faith based program for drug addiction depends on the intensity of the addiction, the progress level of the person and the overall health of the person.

It is a very good move to go for a holistic, spiritual method for drug addiction. It not only cleanses your spirit but you are able to connect well with your family, friends, people in general and particularly within yourself. Our minds are the most powerful thing in the world and if we focus and channel our mind in breaking out of the toughest addictions, we can do so. Drug addiction is a curable disease and rehabilitation like Christian drug rehab can be very helpful and useful in helping an addict live a happy and prosperous life again.

CHRISTIAN DRUG REHAB: AN OVERVIEW

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Christian rehabilitation centers provide treatment to addicts of drugs and alcohol through various spiritual methods of treatment that allow them to get closer to God. From there, they can begin to turn their lives around. The treatments followed at these Christian drug rehabs are very different to the initiatives offered by normal drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, with religious centers specializing in providing faith-based rehabilitation for drug abuse victims. These rehabs preach Christian faith whilst accepting people of all faiths and welcoming anyone who wants to work towards curing their drug addiction. Unlike other rehabs, denominational centers endorse belief in Jesus and emphasize the point that God alone has the power to relieve the addicts from their addictions. Many Christian drug treatment centers say that the combination of the power of the Holy Spirit and a faith-based treatment plan can help many people of faith to kick their addictions a lot more easily.

Also, Christian drug rehab centers offer moral support to the addicts they support. They make them realize that the addiction is not unique to them and that many others suffer from similar problems. Group counseling sessions are the official term for these sessions and allow people to talk to each other and to learn about the different experiences that people have endured.

On conclusion of a rehabilitation course, sobriety clubs allow addicts to continue to have support which can enable them to remain clean and unaffected by their former addictions. Some of these associations are based in religious organizations like churches, with many addicts being encouraged to attend church services and to study Bible readings to help you strength be regained.

The Christian drug rehabs help the addict reinstall their faith in God, allowing them to understand that God accepts anyone who wants to do the right thing. Christian drug rehabs also treat all addicts, irrespective of their religion and belief. Christian rehabs tell the addicts that asking for forgiveness can help them to connect with God and can give them the opportunity to create an individual bond.

Christian drug rehabs are well known for their healing procedures and have enjoyed a surge in popularity due to the increasing levels of support that is provided to reformed alcoholics beyond the conclusion of a rehabilitation course. Some of the additional services that some religious organizations provide include sobriety sessions that allow addicts to obtain a sense of security and protection once they leave the rehabilitation center and return to their normal lives.

Religious treatments help addicts to be cured in a religious and a spiritual way. The personal counseling and other programs conducted as a part of this treatment process helps the victims not only recover from their addictions but also to emerge as a wonderful and caring person, with these new valued allowing a person to lead a spiritual, sober and peaceful life. This opportunity can mark a new chapter in a person’s life, with the second chance that can be provided by sobriety being invaluable to some.
