If statistics is anything to go by then the condition of alcoholism and situation of the society due to alcohol related problem is as worse as the other states. Between 2002 and 2003 over a span of 1 year an estimated 286,000 people were suffering from alcohol abuse in Tennessee. In 2005, the conditions were similar in lines, only 329,000 estimated individuals were found under the influence of alcohol of which 316,000 did not receive treatment. Cognitive behavioral counseling is one form of counseling that is incorporated for teaching the patients about the decisions and the mannerisms that would help them in their day to day life.

Counseling basically involves motivating patients to overcome the barrier of any sorts that are causing problem for them to overcome their craving. The reason may involve behavioral disturbances due to past events, present circumstances or due to excessive strain and stress. The patients have to pick up the skills and the strategies, which would help find solace. Meditation is also one form of therapy which instigates self control over the persons mind. Besides counseling, yoga and medications are used as well.
